Family Class Sponsorship Rejections and Rejections based on Medical Inadmissibility:

The following family members qualify to be sponsored by a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident:

  • Spouse, Common-Law Partner, Conjugal Partner who is at least 16 years of  age;
  • Parents and Grandparents;
  • dependent children, including adopted children;
  • children under 18 years of age whom you intend to adopt;
  • brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or grandchildren who are orphans; under the age of 18 and are not married or in a
    common-law relationship;
Note: One relative of any age can be sponsored, if the sponsor does not have a family member from the list above .
There are few basic requirements that must be met in order to qualify as a sponsor. The sponsor;

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Must ensure they have a qualifying applicant in the country of sponsorship;
  • Must not be criminally inadmissible.

Outside Canada Spousal, Common Law Sponsorship

For individuals who wish to marry outside the country or who have already married outside must fill the outside Canada
sponsorship forms. If you have already filled the forms and have been rejected, we handle spousal appeals at the

In-Canada Spousal, Common-Law Sponsorship

Couples are able to sponsor within Canada as of February 18, 2005 as long as they are living together in Canada. Before this
new amendment came into effect the applicant would have to go back to their country and wait for their partner to sponsor.
Now, couples who are already in Canada do not have to separate from each other.
Note: Spousal sponsorship cases are exempted from the income requirements (LICO).
